Frequently asked questions

What things can
counselling address?

Counselling is a space where no issue is too big or too small. If something is important enough to bring you to counselling, it’s worth exploring. If it turns out that a different service might better suit your needs, I’m happy to help guide you to the appropriate resources.

How much does a session cost?

Fees are £40 per session.

Each session lasts 50 minutes.

Reduced rates may be available - contact me for details.

Payment is required 24 hours before your session.

What can I
expect in the first session?

Your first counselling session is designed to lay the foundation for our therapeutic relationship. During this session, we’ll focus on understanding your needs, goals, and any concerns you may have. We’ll discuss what has brought you to counselling, and I will ask you some questions to gain a clearer picture of the issues you’re experiencing. Additionally, I may use a standardised assessment questionnaire and ask you to complete a few forms before we begin our journey together.

What happens after the first session?

Your following sessions provide a confidential space for you to begin your supported healing process.

This safe space is for you and a place where you can begin to untangle, explore and process your emotions and experiences.

How often should I have counselling?

I recommend one session per week, for 50 minutes per session.  As change happens this can be reduced to fortnightly and maintenance sessions are available if required.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel?

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide 48 hours' notice; otherwise, the full session fee will be charged. Given the high demand for counselling services, this allows the appointment to be offered to someone else. Exceptions may be made in rare circumstances.
